Mount Vernon

This past week we took a last minute trip to visit Abbie and Stephen for a long Memorial Day weekend. We got to be with them for almost 4 days and had such a nice time. One of the most refreshing few days in a long time.

One of the days we decided to visit Mount Vernon. We lived in Maryland for a year in 2004 and did a lot of the D.C. touristy things, but never Mt. Vernon. My parents both went as kids and wanted to go back so we all went. Honestly one of my favorite historic things we've done. It was amazing. And prompted so much fun conversation about history and life. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Also, so much thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Bossom, Stephen's parents who let us stay at their house while they're away in California. When they heard we were coming they eagerly opened up there home and stocked the fridge with fruit and an abundance of Klondike bars which didn't go to waste.

Hope you've all had a nice week!

Mother's Day Brunch

After a wonderful Sunday morning where we get the opportunity to enjoy laughter and fellowship with both our families every week, we headed over to Bill's parent's house for a mother's day brunch. Days like today make me appreciate hallmark holidays a little more.

I really couldn't be happier then to share life so closely with both mine and Bill's families. We are so thankful for our moms who are both a delight. We love you both very much!

Plugging away this evening at sorting through 1000s of wedding photos and started looking through some of the photo scans of my grandparents in Japan. We're going to be sharing quite a few and the stories that go with them to our church family this coming Sunday.  I couldn't look away and then just had to share theses two.

Bill and I have been talking about it.
Maybe it's just us, but this photo of them working just makes me want to do something
I don't even know what they're doing - but it doesn't look stressful or like they're dirty and outside because it's a work day - it's just peaceful, life together
It makes us want to work hard and enjoy life more quietly.
That sounds very good.

Just a couple Monday evening thoughts. :)
